Pop Culture Odds and Ends – A Quarter Cenutry of Seinfeld Edition

It’s hard to believe, but this past weekend marked the 25th anniversary (!) of the debut of Seinfeld. Seriously, how in the hell is that even possible? I didn’t watch the original pilot when it aired, but I was a pretty earlier adopter of the program and it was a very big part of my life in high school and college. The show changed how I thought about television and changed the course of the popular lexicon. I quote the show daily without even meaning to – that’s how ingrained it is in my life. I’m not the only one that fells that way as the occasion of this anniversary sparked a lot of writing on the Internet.

So we’ll kick the pop culture roundup off this week with Seinfeld links in honor of this special milestone….yada yada yada…..we’ll end with the mashups and supercuts. You know the drill by now. 🙂

  • If I didn’t already have plans last Saturday, I would have been at the Brooklyn Cyclones game for their Seinfeld night, featuring a Elaine dance-off:

  • Christopher Nolan also penned an Op-Ed for WSJ. Did all their writers quit?
  • The newest addition to Tina Fey/Amy Poehler film? John Cena.
  • Joel McHale and Tony Hale spoof Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee:

  • Grumpy Cat is now doing Cheerio commercials:

  • The Tonight Show was on vacation last week, but they came back strong with this cover of “Fancy”

Full hearts here at @dcoulier and @melissabring's wedding. ❤️

  • Toto’s “Africa” played on beer bottles:

  • Well, this clears things up……
