It’s T-minus four days until the Oscars and once again my Oscar death race has kind of petered out as we cross the finish line. I’m still hoping for a strong finish this weekend, but I’m punting the Best Foreign Film, Best Original Song and all the Shorts categories because they are impossible to track down or were only available for a limited time and I missed them. This is probably the latest in the process that I’ve still had some of the performances in the acting categories to watch, which is more a testament to the fact that I don’t really want to watch Steve Jobs or 45 Years than anything else. I totally forgot about the documentary features, which I do want to see, so it may be a long weekend of Netflix and no chill for me. Got to stay focused. The upside of this is that since I’ve accepted that I’m not going to be able to see everything, I can continue my boycott of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was already ruined for me anyway. Children do not quite grasp the concept of “spoiler alert.”
But my laziness with the Oscar death race does not extend to the pop culture roundup; instead of watching the remaining Oscar nominees, I’ve been scouring the web, near and far, to find the best that the world of pop culture has had to offer in the last week. I’ve put together quite the smorgasbord of pop culture stories, so go ahead and get yourself caught up while I pour over movie times and streaming options.
