Pop Culture Odds and Ends – Mini-Vacay Edition

Tomorrow I’m leaving on a jet plane for a quickie getaway. I usually don’t take a proper summer vacation and this is really no exception – I’ll only be away for a little over 36 hours, which means I’ll be cramming a lot into a very short amount of time. I’m not a laying on the beach kind of vacationer anyway, but this is probably not the most relaxing way to be spending my time. But two days out of the office is still two days out of the office and I’m excited to explore a city that I’ve never been to before, even if it’s going to be 100 million degrees outside. So this will be the last post on the blog this week, though hopefully this trip will also generate a little content for next week.

But I couldn’t leave you without doing this week’s pop culture roundup. Even without any trailers in this edition, there’s still plenty of news to share from the world of pop. So while I try to finalize all my activities for the next two days, get yourself caught up on everything that you might have missed.

Tuesday Trailer Park

Trailers…..we’ve got trailers here!

Thanks to Comic-Con over the weekend, this week there were just too many new trailers to be contained in the normal weekly pop culture roundup. This worked out well for me, since I still haven’t been doing much pop culture related lately (unless mainlining Gilmore Girls repeats counts). That’s right – I haven’t made it to the movie theater again this week. It’s an American tragedy.

But failures of the past doesn’t prohibit from looking towards the future, which is what these trailers do. It’s always interesting to see what comes out of Comic-Con and while these trailers may not be representative of the final product, quite a few of them further piqued my interest. I can’t say that I was all that excited for Wonder Woman (#teamMarvel), but my tune has changed after seeing the first trailer.

So check out the trailers that have been released in the last week and see if anything catches your eye. There’s a little bit of everything, so you’re bound to find something you like.

Pop Culture Odds and Ends – Still Haven’t Seen Ghostbusters Edition

Well, my best laid plans to try and squeeze in a viewing of the new Ghostbusters didn’t pan out as expected. Between going away to visit friends and the craziness of the last few days at work, I just haven’t had the time or energy. I’m really dropping the ball with going to the movies this summer, though that is partially because I haven’t been too interested in a lot of what’s been released. But when my friends asked me the last movie that I saw in the theater, I had no idea. Thank goodness I have a blog so I could look it up (it was X-Men: Apocalypse, which really was pretty forgettable). I really need to get back into the swing of things. I’m home this weekend before I start traveling again, so perhaps I can have a mini-movie marathon to get caught up. I’m excited to finally see Ghostbusters so I can weigh in on the debate. I hate not being part of the pop culture conversation.

Speaking of keeping up with the pop culture conversation, that’s what the roundups are for. As I am wont to do, I’ve searched high and low to bring you the best that the world of pop culture has had to offer in the last seven days. So get yourself caught up by perusing my menagerie of pop culture stories…..
