Pop Culture Odds and Ends – Welcome to September Edition

I don’t know how this happened, but it’s September already. Wasn’t it just the 4th of July? This last month of summer has just flown by; I thought that I had a lot of time to do everything left on my summer bucket list and that is apparently not in the cards. I love autumn, but I don’t know if I’m quite ready for the barrage of new television that is on the horizon. I could have used a few more weeks of the lazy, hazy days of summer. I didn’t even take a summer vacation!

But time marches on, just as the world of pop culture. I’ve search the interwebs far and wide to bring you the best that pop culture has to offer. So while we enjoy these last final days of summer, get yourself caught up on all the pop culture that you may have missed.

Pop Culture Odds and Ends – Goodbye To You Edition

Pop culture goodbyes are never easy and it seems like they are happening with increasing frequency. This week we not only sad goodbye to Mad Men, but we’ll bid David Letterman an adieu from late night television. Both of these endings make me a little sad; Mad Men was one of my favorite shows of all time and I feel like I grew up with Letterman. So it’s been a rough couple of days for someone like me who doesn’t like change.

But the show must go on. Once again, I’ve searched far and wide on the Internet to bring you some of the pop culture news and highlights that you might have missed. There may be big changes to the landscape afoot, but that does nothing to slow down the pop culture machine. So sit back, relax and get yourself caught up on the world of pop.

Pop Culture Odds and Ends – Baby It’s Cold Outside Edition

I was lucky enough to have a three day weekend last weekend and I spent almost all of it, with the exception of one hour, in my apartment because the thought of going outside was too much for me to handle. With the temperature dipping into the negative and the wind chill adding insult to injury, it seemed easier to just hibernate for as long as possible. Even the thought of going to the movies to continue my Oscar death race seemed like too much trouble. My DVR had filled up during my vacation, so I curled up on the couch and powered through 8 hours of The Tonight Show while listening to the heat running non-stop for 72 hours. Thank the dear Lord that I don’t live in Boston – not only would I  be surrounded by  Sox and Pats fans *shudder* but I do not think I could handle all the snow that they have. Boston Strong has taken on a whole new meaning. I tip my winter hat to New England – you are better people than I (only when it comes to weather).

Being under self-imposed house arrest also allowed me plenty of time to seek out pop culture nuggets for this week’s roundup. There’s something in here for everyone, so warm yourself with the pop culture goodness that I’ve uncovered.
