Pop Culture Odds and Ends – Thankful Edition

Somehow tomorrow is Thanksgiving, which seems kind of crazy since I still have bags of Halloween candy in my office. I’m looking forward to seeing my nephew enjoy his first Thanksgiving, though since he can’t eat turkey or anything yet I’m not sure how much he’s really going to get out of the day other than being passed around like a hot potato. That kid seriously has no idea how much he is adored.

This year I am particularly thankful for the four day weekend. My master plan is to get caught up on all the movies and TV shows that I’ve fallen behind on. I’m not sure how I’m actually going to accomplish all that is on the schedule unless I don’t sleep the entire holiday, but I’m up for the challenge. Usually by this time I’ve started prep for the Oscar death race, but this year I haven’t even gotten around to seeing the new Thor movie yet. I never used to miss a Marvel movie in the theater and now I’ve already missed Spider-Man: Homecoming. I seriously have to get my life back on track.

So while I binge-watch Netflix shows and spend all day in the movie theater, get yourself caught up on all that you might have missed with this week’s pop culture roundup. Best wishes for a happy Thanksgiving!

Pop Culture Odds and Ends – More Content is Coming Edition

I know that I’ve sucked the last few weeks and have only managed to get out the pop culture roundup. For that I am sorry. The good news is that I managed to go to the movies twice over the weekend, so I’m hoping to end the week strong with some reviews. Of course, I thought that I’d have at least one review up already this week, so maybe don’t bet the farm on my promises. My word is usually my bond, but lately I’ve been in such a funk that while I have the best of intentions, my execution is a little lacking.

But let’s not focus only on the negative – at least you have the weekly pop culture roundup as a shining oasis in the otherwise barren blog, proof that I am in fact still alive and consuming pop culture. So I’ve got that goin’ for me, which is nice. Until I get around to reviewing Get Out and Logan, hopefully this will tide you over.

Pop Culture Odds and Ends – Digging Out of the Snow Edition

I foolishly thought that we might make it through this winter without too much fuss, but Mother Nature had other ideas in mind and decided to dump a fair amount of snow on us in a very short window of time. I’ve certainly been through much worse snow storms and other parts of the country have received way more snow this year, but after the relative tranquility of this winter (weather-wise, at least) it was a bit jarring to have to remember how to drive on partially plowed roads. I thankfully live in an apartment complex so my only responsibility is cleaning off my car, but I remember the struggle that was having on-street parking during a snow emergency. I don’t miss those days of shoveling your car out only to have it plowed back in ten minutes later. I hate snow in general, but I didn’t even mind the storm Sunday since I had nowhere that I had to be. I took that as a cue to stay put and work my way through the pileup on my DVR. It was relaxing. I don’t need there to be any more snow for the rest of the season, though. We’re good.

Also good – this week’s roundup. I took advantage of the snow day to get caught up on all the pop culture that I had missed and now I share that bounty with you. There’s a little bit of something for pretty much everyone, so dig into the pop culture bounty and see what you discover.
