I don’t know if I’m losing my patience or my students this semester are particularly troublesome, but they are really trying to drive me crazy this semester. Not only do they not do the assigned readings and look disinterested during lecture, but they apparently have not even glanced at the syllabus based on the barrage of questions that I’ve received this week. They have their first exam tomorrow so that has really hyped up the inane questions. It’s great for regaling my friends and co-workers with tales of the lunacy – I even had a student who dropped my class asking me ridiculous questions because he didn’t realize that he had dropped the class – but it is no fun for my mental health. I suspect that I’m one and done after this semester and will be leaving my teaching career in the rear view mirror. Lecturers don’t get paid enough to put up with this foolishness.
So while I answer the same question 50 times, get yourself caught up with all the pop culture that you might have missed with this week’s roundup.
