Pop Culture Odds and Ends – Game of Thrones Withdrawal Edition

The first few weeks after a season of Game of Thrones ends is always an adjustment period; after ten weeks of being completely immersed in and obsessed with a television show, I feel a little rudderless. Now begins the long summer television season, where there is little to offer. I hold out hope that HBO’s shows will help fill the void – True Detective was great last year – but I would much rather be spending time in Westeros. For now, I’m reading plenty of Game of Thrones fan theories to help with the transition. I just can’t quit Game of Thrones cold turkey. That would be a shock to my system. Of course, this also marks the annual faux commitment to finishing the books (I’m still stuck in the middle of book 2), which we all should realize isn’t going to happen. I miss Game of Thrones, but those freaking books are LONG.

One way to ease the pain of having to wait 9 months until one of my favorite shows returns is to throw myself into this week’s pop culture roundup, which is exactly what I did. Surfing the web looking for nuggets of pop culture goodness was a nice distraction from worrying about the fate of Game of Thrones characters. So lose yourself in this menagerie of pop culture goodness.
