Pop Culture Odds and Ends – I’m An Auntie Edition

He made us wait for it, but my nephew finally made his glorious debut on this planet last week. Kudos to my sister-in-law ushering this perfect little creature into our lives. It’s amazing how much he has changed all of us already and he isn’t even a week old. So far being an auntie is pretty easy – I show up, hold the baby for a while, and then get to bail if he gets fussy. Honestly, this is kind of a perfect arrangement. And it’s amazing how biology works – obviously this isn’t my kid, but when I look down at him in my arms, I’m pretty sure that I would take a bullet for him. Hopefully that theory is never tested, but who knows – it’s too early to determine how good he’s going to be at life choices.

Pop Culture Odds and Ends – Spring Break Edition

My Facebook feed this week has been filled with vacation photos from all my friends who are enjoying spring break and I have to admit that I’m a little jealous. I’m about a month away from my vacation and I’ve been so busy lately that I could use a few days of R&R. Of course most of my friends are vacationing with their children who are on break, so I’m not sure how relaxing their vacations actually are. Family trips are always an adventure – whether you want them to be or not.

So while I long for a few days off, get yourself caught up on all the pop culture that you might have missed with this week’s roundup. A perfect way to kill a morning if you are taking a staycation.

Odds and Ends

The first time Jasmine's favorite character, Pikachu came to visit her months ago she was only crawling. For Easter Sunday @laurenhashianofficial and I thought, Pikachu should make a special visit once again. Well, Pikachu didn't account for the fact that now Jazzy RUNS and for 2hrs straight she wants to play her new favorite game, "I run away and you chase me Pikachu. And you're not allowed to take a break until I go night night". At the end of the vid you can hear her yell, "Peekyu" because she can't say, Pikachu. I'm tired, today's my only day off, it's 118 degrees in this costume and Hobbs keep trying to p*ss on my leg. And I luv every minute of it. Bring it on. It's what daddy's do. Happy Easter to you guys and enjoy your families. #Rockachu #DaddyPuttinInWork #TheGameThatNeverEnds #PikachuLooksBloated

Pop Culture Odds and Ends – Baby Watch Edition

My sister-in-law is getting close to her due date, which means that I am officially on baby watch. What this basically translates to is that every time that my phone vibrates with a text message, email, Snapchat, Twitter, or Facebook messenger notification, I dive to get to my phone as quickly as possible to see if it bears tidings of my nephew’s impending arrival. I’m pretty popular, so my phone goes off a lot. I’m going to be in amazing shape when this kid finally arrives. So if you want to torture me, randomly message me throughout the day, knowing that wherever I am I am grabbing at my phone like I’m on the Titanic and it’s a life preserver. If you’re especially evil, do it while I’m at work.

So while I (semi)patiently wait to become an auntie, keep yourself occupied with this week’s pop culture roundup. There’s something here for everyone – even newborn babies.
